Abstract:
The 'Trois danses (Joies, Deuils, Luttes)', written between 1937 and 1939, represent the most significant single contribution to the solo organ repertory made by Jehan Alain (1911-1940). This thesis analyses the dances with a view to isolating characteristics of their musical theme.
