The Privacy Statement of the SMI Music Theses Register (hereafter 'SMTR'), shown below, was last updated in March 2019. It comprises advice for persons who define user-accounts on the site and also for the authors of theses listed in the Register.

To authors of theses

  • If you are the author of a thesis that is already listed in the Register, you may correct or update the details stored: see the advice at Claim a thesis record for updating.
  • If your thesis is not already listed in the Register, please create a user account and make a submission. Updating of your submissions at a later time may also be done through your user account.

Privacy Statement

The SMI Music Theses Register (SMTR) protects the personal data of its users in accordance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, from May 2018). By registering an account as a user of SMTR you assent to all the following aspects of our policy:

Cookies

This website uses cookies to track users (including anonymous users who do not register) as an enhancement of the user experience. In accordance with GDPR, users explicitly opt in, giving their consent to the use of cookies, or may opt out.

The personal data that the register holds

  • SMTR collects and holds only the data that you permit us to have when you register as a user of the SMTR website.
  • As a registered user you may see what personal data SMTR holds by logging in and viewing your 'My account' link.
  • The names and email addresses of registered users of SMTR will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this resource and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Changing or deleting your personal data

  • You have the right to have your user-account deleted and its personal data removed from our records. You may request this by contacting the manager of this site.

About the thesis details that you submit

  • In making any submission to SMTR you grant to SMTR the right to display in this open-access register all the details about particular theses that you submit. You also grant to SMTR the right to maintain the visibility of that information about theses on a permanent basis.
  • The deletion of your user-account does not remove from the register the definitions of theses that you have provided.

The public display of personal details

  • If you are a registered user with SMTR, your account details are normally not able to be seen or accessed by visitors to the site. However, in some displays your username may be shown alongside the submissions you make when defining theses.

Notifications and communication

  • As a registered user of SMTR, you may from time to time receive communications and announcements, by email, about the Register.
